(Notice) [Jigokudani Monkey Park] entrance fee revision

  Starting December 1^st 2016, the entrance fee to the Jigokudani Monkey Park will be revised. This is the first revision since 1997, 19 years ago, when a 5% consumption tax was introduced. This time, the main reason for the revision is to improve the service provided to visitors. We will be renovating facilities and the environment so the increased price of the entrance fee will be dedicated as an investment to the construction and general improvement of the area.

The details are written below, but in short, the profit that will arise from the entrance fee will be dedicated to the observation of the wild Japanese macaques, the facilities used for this and to improve safety and comfort in general. We thank you for your support.

Notes

1. Contents and reasons for improving provided service

(1) Renovation of the administrative office

1. To improve the safety of the building that has deteriorated for 52 years since 1964
2. To create a Wi-Fi environment and renew the exhibited items

(2) Sewage pipe laying

1. Starting at the trail entrance and leading up to the administrative office, 1.6km
2. Simultaneously laying the internet cables
3. Improving the surroundings of the facilities
4. Course up till now

January 1997                Entrance fee revision (due to 5% consumption tax)

2001                             Improvement of the parking area after the closing of the flower garden

2010                             Construction of the bathrooms at the Kanbayashi parking area(The entrance fee was not increased when the consumption tax was raised to 8% in April, 2014)

1. Pre-school children accompanied by their custodians get free entrance.
2. People with disabilities and handicaps pay half price. If the attendant of the ticket office believes it to be appropriate, then also the caregiver may receive a discount.
3. In case of groups in need of special care, please consult the staff.
4. Not possible to combine with other discount tickets
5. No notable discount for senior citizens.
